Cat Sculpture
I truly believe you can see the history of the world by gazing into a cat's eyes.
"I believe cats to be spirits come to earth. A cat, I am sure, could walk on a cloud without coming through."

Sidhe ~ (Celtic) Cat King
Sidhe works in the spirit realm. His ear piece has a blue Lapis lazuli stone indicating spiritual enlightenment, bringing peace and inner harmony
These cat sculptures are all one of a kind and each has its own personality. They are sculptured out of Pal Tiya clay. A weather resistant clay allowing these cat sculptures to stay inside or out. They are the size of a small real cat, approximately 12" for a full cat, or 5" for masks. They have glass eyes backed by a gold dust finish that will not fade as with most paints. Their weight is 5 - 7 lbs. full body, 1 lb. for a mask.
Artist Statement - Karen Lyons, Sculpture
An anonymous wise person once said, "Thousands of years ago, cats were worshipped as gods. Cats have never forgotten this." It is their enigmatic aura that has captured humans for centuries and it inspires my art. I enjoy the many varieties of cats, their personalities, and their very expressive and elusive faces.
Many years ago I studied classic clay sculpture with the NYC Art Students League. Eventually I moved from sculptures of humans to visiting zoos and the NYC Natural Museum of History and began creating clay sculptures of animals. At first I worked as a freelance sculptor for well-known companies. I became known as the designer for unusual things. I designed pieces, such as, the toys for the Pee Wee Herman Show. Among other unusual jobs, I worked with a company creating animatronic animals. In 2000 I started my own business, KJ Lyons Design, and became involved with many fascinating collectors. This has enabled me to be freer in my creations. I am so grateful for the chance I've had to create a life's work that I love!
